Drupal Cannot Enable Secure Pages?

This entry was posted by on Thursday, 19 November, 2009

I have an ecommerce website built on drupal and an SSL certificate installed. In the Admin area on the secure pages page the “enable secure page” radio button is greyed out.
I’ve searched the drupal forums and tried a couple of the suggestions there but no luck, I still cannot enable secure pages. Any suggestions?

You’ll need to enable a dedicated IP address for your site with your host. I use dreamhost, and once I set this up it allowed me to enable that module.
However, there is still the third-party certificate hurdle to jump. Without it you are a self-signed certificate, which may scare off users. I’m dealing with the certificate now (from Comodo.)
